Sauca reflected that the theme, “Unity in Mission,” could not be more relevant in the current times. “More than one year into pandemic, millions of lives have been lost and joblessness, homelessness, hunger, and poverty have increased,” he wrote. “Rooted in the degradation and exploitation of God’s gift of creation, the pandemic has dealt the heaviest blows on the socio-economically marginalised.”

But no one has been left untouched, wrote Sauca. “In this context of human suffering and the groaning of creation, we are called as churches to express and live out Christ’s love in unity and mission,” he wrote.
