WCC assembly delegates will have increasing roles in prayer cycle

As the World Council of Churches (WCC) continues its prayer cycle, WCC 11th Assembly delegates can expect to have increasingly larger roles in prayers and reflections. This trend will begin the week of 15 November, when the ecumenical prayer cycle focuses on the people and churches of Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia.

From songs in indigenous languages, to offering reflections, to leading intercessions, the WCC assembly delegates will help the WCC fellowship grow in love for each other.

“We believe the involvement of assembly delegates in the WCC’s weekly ecumenical prayer cycle will help to prepare both the delegates and the wider member churches for the upcoming assembly,” said Rev. Dr Mikie Roberts, WCC programme executive for Spiritual Life.

On 15 November, a reflection will be offered by Very Rev. Ann Mills, dean of Auckland's Holy Trinity Cathedral.

As the benediction will read:

“Go in peace as those who tread a common way with the Christ;
and may each stone on the road,
be firm under your feet as God who is our rock,
the winds of the earth wrap you round with the breath of the Spirit.”

Throughout the week and beyond, additional WCC assembly delegates will be offering their creative input during WCC prayers.
