Moltmann’s theological work will be honored and examined for its contemporary relevance.
Through his theology, Moltmann has shaped generations of theologians worldwide. The symposium will explore how his hope of faith was neither a mere consolation regarding the afterlife, nor a utopian vision or abstract principle; rather, it was a concrete force for shaping the present—courage to act, and a commitment to stand against injustice and for a life that aligns with God’s future and love.
Those gathered will speak on Moltmann’s work as a concrete force for shaping the present with the courage to act, to stand up against injustice, and to advocate for a life that aligns with God’s future and love.
World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee moderator Bishop Dr Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, who is one of the organizers of the symposium, will offer a keynote speech on “Impacts on Global Ecumenism.”
Rev. Dr Kuzipa Nalwamba, WCC programme director for Unity, Mission, and Ecumenical Formation, will deliver a paper entitled “An Entwined Vine: A Zambian Theological Engagement with Moltmann.”
