A special anniversary year, running from 24 May 2020 to 24 May 2021 is now being observed to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Laudato Si’ encyclical. The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development is organizing several initiatives among many groups with a clear emphasis on ecological conversion in action.
Pope Francis, when announcing the special year, said: “I invite all persons of goodwill to adhere to it, to take care of our common home and our more fragile brothers and sisters.”
The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development is overseeing the promotion of a movement to care of our common home and the weaker members of our common household and biotic community.
On 24 May 2015 Pope Francis signed Laudato Si’, an encyclical letter that called world’s attention to the increasingly precarious state of our common home. A Laudato Si’ program schedule with an open-ended list of initiatives is available, with further details unfolding in the coming weeks.
