The prayer service also commemorated International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, which will be observed 19 June.

Rev. Willingmore Mhlanga, of the Zimbabwe Council of Churches, offered a reflection that emphasized, whatever we do, it must be concerned with contributing to the expansion of the kingdom of God.

As the church, we are the medium of God's mission,” said Mhlanga. Our task in God's mission is to diligently execute our task and leave the rest to God.”

God grows and multiplies his work, continued Mhlanga. At times, we may look at our work or capacity and feel that we are inadequate,” he said. However, our efforts, small as they may seem, are important because it is that work that God multiplies in his mission in the world. Overall, it is the small acts that grow and have a big impact on people's lives.”

In the church, people must find a place of refuge, relief, and protection, concluded Mhlanga. The church's confidence is in nothing apart from its trust in the name of the Lord our God,” he said.
