Rev. Tim Norwood, national ecumenical officer for the Church of England, offered a message on how Jesus was able to remain compassionate.

We stand as God's people in every part of the world,” said Norwood. We experience all the brokenness of the world.”

He noted that, though we experience and know the pain and brokenness of this world, “we are also one,” he said. "We are called to serve Christ in the world.”

Norwood was accompanied by Rev. Canon Dr Ainsley Griffiths from the Church in Wales, and a group of young adults from the Church of England General Synod. Bishop Dr Robert Innes from the Anglican Diocese in Europe was acknowledged and welcomed

Rev. Dr Susan Durber from the United Reformed Church in UK, World Council of Churches president from Europe, offered a short greeting at the end of the prayer. The One Voice choir provided recordings of two English hymns and a traditional Anglican chant of Psalm 5.

In the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle, this week the WCC prayed for the churches and people of Ireland and the United Kingdom: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
