Members shared information on church life in their specific contexts, outlining good news and current challenges. Participants reported that these inputs were very informative and enlightening, and also stimulated discussions on current global issues.
WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay gave updates on Orthodox matters, particularly referring to the application process of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine to join the WCC.
Pillay also gave an update on the Green Village Project, as requested by the PCCC.
The Permanent Committee on Consensus and Collaboration, a committee of the WCC central committee, was formed to continue the authority, mandate, concerns, and dynamics of the Special Commission for Orthodox Participation in the WCC; give advice and make recommendations to governing bodies during and between assemblies; facilitate and improve participation of the Orthodox in the entire life and work of the WCC; offer counsel and provide opportunity for action in matters of common interest; and give attention to matters of ecclesiology.
