Twenty ordinands from the Church of Sweden accompanied by Rev. Pehr-Albin Edén, ecumenical officer, and professors from the Church of Sweden Study Institute, visited the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Ecumenical Institute of Bossey in November. This has become a real tradition for the Swedish who come every year.
Edén says: ”I hope our ordinands will broaden their perspective and get enthusiastic about the ecumenical work. They will soon be working in parishes and it is important they connect with the global church”.
Part of the visit took place in Bossey, where the ordinands learned about the Ecumenical institute and enjoyed socializing with the students.
Peter Berntsson says: ”Meeting other students at Bossey is a hopeful sign that you can gather people from all over the world. During the Bible study, we went across boundaries. It is the diversity in the body of Christ”.
On their second day, the ordinands visited the WCC and met with programme executives working on the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace and gender justice, among other issues. Amanda Cardmarker says: ”Here, we get a bigger picture. All the world is one big church. You see how global all this is. The church is not small”.
The 20 students from Sweden will be ordained in January and the WCC wishes them full blessings in their ministry.
