Dagmar Heller, director of the Konfessionskundliches Institut reflected that Know your neighbour as yourself!” is the motto for the work at the Konfessionskundliches Institut. The aim is to support the ecumenical movement by enabling church leaders and other ecumenists for dialogue,” said Heller. Personal relations with WCC and with different churches are therefore crucial for our educational work among Protestants in Germany.”

During the visit with the WCC, the Konfessionskundliches Institut representatives met with WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, and they also received updates on the WCC Commission on Faith and Order, WCC Ecumenical institute at Bossey, and the work of the WCC in Public Witness and Diakonia and communications.

The Konfessionskundliches Institut also met with WCC partners including Globethics and the Lutheran World Federation.

The Konfessionskundliches Institut is an institution of the Evangelische Bund, an association of Protestant congregations and individuals in Germany, whose aim is to deepen the Protestant profile in ecumenical commitment and relations.

The Konfessionskundliches Institut explores current developments in various Christian denominations and promotes exchange between academic theology and church practice. The Konfessionskundliches Institut offers continuing education courses and seminars on confessional topics for ecumenical officers, pastors, teachers of religion, and interested members of parishes and students.

The Konfessionskundliches Institut also advises church leaders, ecumenical officers, and ecumenical committees, as well as parishes and individuals.
