We have promised our children a greener future that is more fair and just,” he said. "Therefore, let us all engage with financial service providers to join the UNs Net Zero Alliance.

Sauca urged people to encourage all those financial service providers who have signed a commitment with the Net Zero Alliance, which recognizes that institutional investors collectively have an important role to play in fostering the energy transition the world needs. How will they perform against the targets and measures they are setting?” he asked. Let us also have that discussion.”

Sauca also urged people and organizations to monitor how banks are assessed in the annual Banking on Climate Chaos: Fossil Fuels Finance Report.

These actions matter for children,” he said. We can change the lives of billions of children across the world over the coming decades,” he said. Let us begin now.”

The forum was hosted by UNICEF together with the governments of Botswana and Sweden. A WCC partnership with UNICEF, Churches Commitments to Children, was created in 2015, resulting in an action plan developed with churches, child rights experts and children themselves.

At the forum, participants heard from an array of speakers in a programme developed by a Youth Advisory Group of 26 young people, public and private organizations, and civil society groups.

More than 40 sessions were dedicated to priority themes such as climate, mental health, education, poverty and protection from violence as well as many other topics discussed by UNICEF colleagues and partners. Children and young people were at the center of the stage, moderating panels, asking challenging questions, and bringing their fresh and unique perspective and solutions.

The participants discussed ways in which to mobilize collective action and inspire bold commitments to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
