H.H. Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II made the visit to offer condolences and show heartfelt support for the thousands suffering and thousands who lost loved ones in the devastating earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey.
Among other locations, H.H. Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited the quake-damaged St Peter and Paul's Church in Adyaman, Turkey. He also visited the governor of Antioch, Mustafa Kharbotlou, at his headquarters and offered condolences to the earthquake victims. His Holiness also heard a report on the severe damage to the city, and made a contribution from the Patriarchate to help the affected and wounded.
His Holiness was accompanied by Mor Philoxenus Yusuf Cetin, Patriarchal Vicar of Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir; Mor Gregorius Malke Urek, Patriarchal Vicar of Adiyaman and Environs; and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office director.
