Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), received former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff at the Ecumenical Centre on 10 March, in Geneva, Switzerland.

Accompanied by WCC deputy general secretary Prof. Dr Isabel Apawo Phiri, Tveit welcomed Rousseff at the request of the leadership of the National Council of Christian Churches of Brazil (CONIC).

Discussion centred on problems and possibilities for global justice and peace.

Rousseff was accompanied by Mr. Marco Aurelio Garcia, former special foreign policy adviser of her cabinet, and Rev. Lusmarina Campos Garcia, CONIC’s representative.

Rousseff is in Geneva as one of the speakers at the Human Rights Film Festival, a parallel event to the UN Human Rights Council.
