The competition will mark the 50th anniversary of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Office of Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation.

Rev. Dr Peniel Rajkumar, WCC programme executive for Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation, said that the deadline extension takes into consideration the delays imposed by the current COVID-19 situation, and requests received from aspiring participants.

“The extension is made with a view  to encourage a wider diversity of participation in the competition,” said Rajkumar. “Participants who have already submitted their essays by the earlier deadline of 15 January will be allowed to revise and resubmit their essays by the new deadline."

* The deadline for the competition is 15 March 2021
