”We are deeply troubled by the recent violence in Upper Nile, Western Equatoria, Western Bahr el Ghazal, and Southern Warrap,” the statement reads. "These conflicts have stolen innocent lives, tom families apart, and forced thousands to flee their homes.”

The statement calls upon the South Sudan presidency an even stronger commitment to action for nonviolence.

The future of our nation and that of our children depend on the choices we make today,” the statement reads. Let us choose peace and not war.”

The message calls for prioritizing dialogue over confrontation, and for placing the wellbeing of the people above political interests. Furthermore, we call upon your leadership to release those who are arrested for the sake of peace,” the statement reads. We are committed to fostering forgiveness, healing, and reconciliation in every comer of our nation.”

The South Sudan Council of Churches pledged to continue to pray, mediate, and work tirelessly for the common good of all South Sudanese. Our people are tired of war and displacement that have always compromised their dignity,” the statement reads. Let's give peace a chance.”

In this critical moment, the statement also urges turning to God, the source of all peace. May the peace of Christ, which surpasses all understanding, fill the hearts of all South Sudanese and guide us toward a future of unity, justice, and lasting peace.”
