Bossey Master Students

On 16 June 2021, a ceremony sees master students graduate from the World Council of Churches’ Ecumenical Institute at Château de Bossey. As students thanked the faculty, they especially highlighted the ways in which Bossey became an extended family to them, particularly during the challenged posed by COVID-19. Students came from Burundi, China, Ukraine and Zimbabwe.

Rev. Fr Dr Lawrence Iwuamadi, dean of the Ecumenical Institute, expressed great joy as he thanked students and colleagues.

When I look back on the uncertainties that we faced in the spring of 2020, the plans and alternative plans, weekly faculty meetings and to think that today we could to celebrate the successful completion of the academic year is mind-blowing for me,” he said.

Iwuamadi said two things were key during the past academic year: flexibility and patience.

For students, it was not an easy journey, right from the time you were applying for the visa to this day,” he said. Be good ambassadors of Bossey and when engaging in ecumenism, do it with your heart and not your head alone. Ecumenism of the head alone is only a paperwork.”
