As churches around the world are adapting to new ways of expressing their faith during the COVID-19 pandemic, more than a dozen musicians from various traditions have come together in sharing an ecumenical Easter song.

Based on a single set of lyrics, musicians from various Christian traditions have each composed a piece of music, which they have recorded on video and published in anticipation of the Easter season.

The musical pieces are now available for view online.

Seeing the initiative from the perspective of the world’s largest ecumenical organization, World Council of Churches acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca speaks with appreciation.

“I am glad to see this initiative. In these challenging times, it is good to find ways to come together, in expressing our faith and our hope,” Sauca says.

The lyrics, for which the different pieces of music have been composed, read:

You are the resurrection, the way, the truth, the life,

our strength, our defense, our Savior and our light.

Let us sing together a new melody of hope,

united as your people in spirit and in song.
