The Easter Initiative is an annual activity of the WCC-EAPPI, setting out to connect the stories of Easter with current realities in Palestine and Israel, to spotlight the challenges of a life marked by violence, war and occupation alongside nurturing hope and highlighting groups and individuals striving for a just peace.

Join the People’s Water Forum next Monday April 22nd, 2024, Earth Day, at 2:00pm (Spain/Switzerland) as we engage in a critical discussion about the corporate capture of global water governance at the World Water Forum and the alternative presented by the People’s Water Forum. 

This is an introductory webinar for the People’s Water Forum that will be held in Bali, Indonesia from 18-25 May.

Panelists will share experiences and analysis of contemporary water struggles globally and in their territories, reflecting on key issues.

UN Financing for Development Forum Side-event on "Can taxing the rich help to close the gender divide? And why should we care?”

Linking with the theme of 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective”, this hybrid session will bring a range of perspectives to bear on the questions: What can we do to address extreme wealth concentration? How can taxing the richest in our societies as well as addressing corporate tax evasion serve to advance the goal of gender equity? And why should faith-based organisations care?

International conference “Towards Nicaea 2025: Exploring the Council’s Ecumenical Significance Today”

The World Council of Churches’ Ecumenical Institute at Bossey cordially invites emerging and senior scholars from diverse Christian traditions to participate in an international conference focusing on the ecumenical significance of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325 CE) and its relevance in today’s rapidly changing world.

The Central Committee serves as the chief governing body of the WCC until the next assembly, meeting every 2 years. It is responsible for carrying out the policies adopted by the Assembly, reviewing and supervising WCC programmes and the budget of the Council.
