The World Council of Churches calls Christians worldwide to observe the Season of Creation from 1 September to 4 October 2026. This year's theme, "Living Water," comes from Ezekiel 47:9 and 12—a biblical vision of hope and ecological restoration.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) will join seven ecumenical and civil society partners in co-organizing a side event during the 63rd Session of the UN Human Rights Council, “Climate Finance for Human Rights, Resilience, and Justice.” The event will take place on 7 September 2026, from 14:00 to 15:00 CEST, in Room XI of the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, and will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person. It will be supported by the Geneva Environment Network and the Geneva Interfaith Forum on Climate Change, Environment, and Human Rights.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and Canadian Council of Churches will host a webinar panel discussion, entitled “Counting the Ecological Cost of AI - Data Centres, Water, Energy, and Critical Mineral Extraction,” on 17 September at 10 am (GMT-4:00) Eastern Time (US and Canada).

The second session of the webinar series explores companionship not only as a theological idea, but as a practical method for shaping Pilgrimage encounters. 

The 25-person Executive Committee is the WCC governing body, with members from churches in every region. It meets twice a year to monitor ongoing work, supervise the budget and deal with policy matters referred to it by the Central Committee.
