Webinar - Unity of the Church: Anglican Perspectives and Ecumenical Responses
Produced by the Inter-Anglican Standing Commission on Unity, Faith, and Order, the proposals suggest structural and theological reforms to strengthen Anglican unity and offer contributions to the wider ecumenical movement.
The event will be introduced by Fr Dr Vasile-Octavian Mihoc (WCC) and moderated by Dr Christopher Wells (Anglican Communion). Key presentations will be given by Anglican contributors:

Rt Rev. Dr Graham Tomlin, chair of the Inter-Anglican Standing Commission on Unity, Faith, and Order; and director of the Centrefor Cultural Witness
Director of the Centre for Cultural Witness, based in Lambeth Palace in London. He was Bishop of Kensington from 2015-22. Formerly, he was the founding Dean of St Mellitus College (and remains the President of the College) and before that, Vice Principal of Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, where he taught Historical Theology within the Theology Faculty of Oxford University. He is the author of many books, most recently, Blaise Pascal: The Man who Made the Modern World (Hodder 2025).

Most Rev. Samy F. Shehata, archbishop of the Anglican Province of Alexandria
The Most Reverend Samy F. Shehata serves as the Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Alexandria, which includes North Africa and the Horn of Africa. He is also the Diocesan Bishop of Egypt, overseeing the pastoral, spiritual, and administrative life of the Church across a diverse and challenging region. He holds a doctorate in ecclesiology and is committed to promoting biblically grounded theology, spiritual renewal, and mission-focused leadership within the Church. He is engaged with the global Anglican Communion in numerous ways, especially in the life and vision of the Global South.

Rev. Dr Katherine Sonderegger, professor of Systematic Theology, Virginia Theological Seminary
Professor of Systematic Theology at Virginia Theological Seminary in the U.S. and a priest in the Episcopal Church. She is presently engaged with writing a systematic theology. Volume 1: The Doctrine of God appeared under the aegis of Fortress Press in 2015, and Volume 2: The Trinity: Processions and Persons was published in 2020. She is currently working on Volume 3: Divine Missions, Christology, and Pneumatology.

H.E. Metropolitan Dr Mor Theophilose Kuriakose, Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church
Senior bishop of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church and serves as the Metropolitan of the Malankara Diocese of Europe. He is also the Ecumenical Secretary of the Malankara Church and actively involved in international theological dialogues and interchurch relations. He is also a WCC Faith and Order commissioner in the Study Group “Being Church on the Way to Visible Unity”.

Dr Johannes Oeldemann, Roman Catholic theologian and ecumenist
Roman Catholic Theologian, director of the Johann-Adam-Moehler-Institute for Ecumenism in Paderborn (Germany). He is a leading figure in ecumenical theology and dialogue, particularly in relations between the Roman Catholic Church and Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches. He is also a WCC Faith and Order commissioner in the Study Group “Being Church on the Way to Visible Unity”.
- Rev. Dr Nadia Marais, Reformed theologian and lecturer, Stellenbosch University
Ordained minister in the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa and senior lecturer in Systematic Theology at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Her research focuses on Reformed theology, public theology, and the intersection of doctrine and contemporary societal challenges, with a strong commitment to inclusive and contextual theological discourse. He is a WCC Faith and Order commissioner in the Study Group “Being Human: Discerning Humanity in the Image of God”
