Webinar: Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld

On 4 June 2025, Wednesday at 15:00 (CEST), a joint webinar by the World Council of Churches (WCC), Norwegian Church Aid, and Partnerships for Religion and Development will address menstrual hygiene as a critical issue affecting millions of women and girls worldwide. This urgent event aims to break taboos, end stigma, and promote good practices for menstrual hygiene while building awareness within faith-based organisations and churches.

The webinar will feature multi-perspective panel discussions covering gender, biblical/theological, health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene perspectives. Participants will hear presentations of achievements and contributions over the past decade. The session will explore good practices and solutions for menstrual hygiene access, and discuss economic sustainability implications amid funding challenges.

The event connects to broader WCC programmes including the Land, Water, and Food; Ecumenical Water Network; Just Community of Women and Men; and WCC Commission of the Churches on Health and Healing.

This webinar marks International Menstrual Hygiene Day (observed 28 May) and continues WCC's four-year commitment to raising awareness on this vital issue affecting education, health, and dignity for women and girls globally.
