A special webinar on 8 December will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the WCC Programme to Combat Racism, the forerunner to the current Programme to Overcome Racism.

At this meeting, those gathered will explore, dialogue and reflect on racism, racial discrimination and xenophobia across all the regions of the world. This consultation will undertake a historical evaluation of previous commitments by the ecumenical movement towards the elimination of racial injustice. The group will analyse and evaluate past and present strategies and activities, as well as describe the current battlefronts for overcoming racism, racial discrimination and xenophobia.

The consultation will also consider proposals and recommendations to WCC governing bodies on future work to overcome racism, racial discrimination and xenophobia, especially during critical ecumenical conversations.
