Season of Creation online youth closing service for St Francis Day

Young people and faith communities worldwide can join an online closing service on 4 October, St Francis Day, for the Season of Creation 2025. Led by the Season of Creation Ecumenical Youth Committee, the service celebrates the season running 1 September through 4 October under this year's theme "Peace with Creation," drawn from Isaiah 32:14-18.

The service gathers participants from multiple continents to reflect on creation care, climate justice, and the call to protect our common home. The service includes prayer, music, and testimony, closing this year's observance under the symbol of the Garden of Peace—a dove carrying an olive branch, bringing life and hope.

Ecumenical Patriarch Dimitrios I launched this tradition in 1989, proclaiming 1 September as a day of prayer for creation in the Orthodox Church. The World Council of Churches helped extend the observance into a full season.
