The World Council of Churches has been involved with the United Nations since the drafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the late 1940s. Today, they are joined by the more than 40 global leaders who represent the faith-based member organizations of the Multi-Faith Advisory Council.

The United Nations Multi-Faith Advisory Council (MFAC) was established by the UN Interagency Task Force on Religion and Development in 2018. The Council serves as advisor on faith-based engagement and religious matters to 22 UN entities on issues of human rights, peace and security, and on sustainable development.

The Commemoration will provide an opportunity for messages of hope and solidarity through the Multi-faith Advisory Council and the transmission of their unified, inspiring and advisory message to the United Nations.
