During the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, staff of the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva joined a Monday morning prayer at the Chapelle des Crêts of the Protestant church of Geneva, reflecting on the theme of the 2025: “Do you believe this?”

During an interfaith service in Memphis, Tennessee, on 20 January at the Healing Cathedral Christian Church, hundreds of people gathered in-person and online to commemorate Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy and to respond to deep injustices plaguing the United States. 

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity will take place from 18-25 January, and churches and Christian communities worldwide are invited to use the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025 resources in seven languages, including a child-friendly version.

To prepare the resources of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity for the year 2026, a joint international editing group with representatives from the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches (WCC) met in Etchmiadzin, Armenia from 12-18 October.

Churches and Christian communities worldwide are invited to use the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025 resources which are now available online in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Arabic.

During a multi-faith reception to mark the close of the UN Summit for the Future, Rev. Dr Angelique Keturah Walker-Smith, World Council of Churches president from North America, offered a perspective on taking the UN Pact for the Future forward.

A World Council of Churches (WCC) prayer on 16 September, held during the World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel, focused on how Christians can be a source of hope amid the crushing war in the Holy Land. 

Through prayers and images on social media cards, the World Council of Churches (WCC) is inviting all people of good will to express their support for the 2024 World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel, to be observed 16-22 September.

In a 26 August statement, the Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in Jerusalem observe that the twelfth month of the devastating war is rapidly approaching, express their grave concerns, and  urge an immediate ceasefire.
