The National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA brought church leaders, ecumenical and interfaith partners, UN representatives, and advocates for justice and peace together for its Impact Week 2025 in New York City. 

As Pope Leo XIV presided over the Mass of Inauguration on 18 May, he urged the world to walk toward God and to love one another—a message that resonated deeply with the World Council of Churches (WCC) leaders who attended the mass as well as a private ecumenical audience with Pope Leo on 19 May.

In a conversation held on 2 May that drew repeated applause from the large audience at Kirchentag in Hanover, Germany, Bishop Marianne Edgar Budde, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, DC, and Bishop Dr Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, moderator of the World Council of Churches central committee, reflected together on how churches, with courage and unity, can stand up for justice.

As the annual meeting between the World Council of Churches (WCC) and specialized ministries opened at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey, near Geneva, Switzerland, Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay emphasized the shared vision for a better world and the urgency of closer collaboration.
