Jackline Makena Mutuma est membre du clergé de l’Église méthodiste du Kenya et étudiante à l’Institut œcuménique de Bossey du Conseil œcuménique des Églises où ses recherches portent sur l’interaction entre l’esclavage moderne et le réchauffement climatique. Par ailleurs, elle a récemment été élue vice-présidente de la Commission de Foi et constitution du COE. Dans un entretien au COE, elle livre ses réflexions sur la question pressante de la prévention de l’esclavage moderne.

What can churches do to prevent modern slavery?

Jackline Makena Mutuma is clergy with the Methodist Church in Kenya and a student at the Ecumenical Institute at the World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Institute at Bossey, where her current research is related to the intersection of modern day slavery and global warming. She was also recently elected as one of the vice moderators of the WCC Commission on Faith and Order. In a WCC interview, she reflects on the urgent issue of preventing modern slavery.

Este guia tem como objetivo sensibilizar igrejas e comunidades religiosas sobre a condição catastrófica que é a fístula obstétrica – uma lesão que ocorre no parto, geralmente devido a trabalhos de parto prolongados e obstruídos que não recebem intervenção médica em tempo hábil. A fístula obstétrica pode ter consequências físicas, emocionais e econômicas devastadoras para as mulheres, podendo inclusive levar a deficiência permanente.

Ecumenical accompanier: “many Palestinians simply want to live a peaceful life”

Siad Ní Bhroin, from the EAPPI UK and Ireland team, served as an ecumenical accompanier in Bethlehem from 31 August to 7 October. The World Council of Churches Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine and Israel, based on an appeal from local church leaders to create an international presence in the country, accompanies the local people and communities, offering a protective presence and witnessing daily struggles and hopes. Below, a reflection on what she witnessed while in the field.

عمل "إيغور غالفاو"، من البرازيل، كمرافق مسكوني في البلدة القديمة في القدس من 31 آب/أغسطس حتى 7 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر. يعمل برنامج المرافقة المسكونية التابع لمجلس الكنائس العالمي (WCC) في فلسطين وإسرائيل، الذي تأسس بناءً على دعوة من قادة الكنائس المحلية لخلق وجود دولي في البلاد، على مرافقة السكان والمجتمعات المحلية، ويعمل على توفير وجود وقائي والشهادة على نضالاتهم وآمالهم اليومية. أدناه، يروي "غالفاو" ما شهده أثناء عمله في الميدان، والعمل الذي ينتظره في المستقبل.

"يريدون العيش دون خوف ومضايقات مستمرة"

عملت "ميري ني ميبريك"، من مدينة غالواي في أيرلندا، كمرافقة مسكونية في قرية طوباس، في الضفة الغربية، خلال الفترة من 31 آب/أغسطس إلى 7 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر. كما عملت سابقاً كمرافقة مسكونية في الخليل عام 2019. يعمل برنامج المرافقة المسكوني التابع لمجلس الكنائس العالمي (WCC) في فلسطين وإسرائيل، الذي تأسس بناءً على دعوة من قادة الكنائس المحلية لخلق وجود دولي في البلاد، على مرافقة السكان والمجتمعات المحلية، وتوفير حضوراً وقائياً والشهادة على نضالاتهم وآمالهم اليومية.أدناه، تروي "ني مبيريك" ما شهدته أثناء عملها في الميدان.
