EKD - Iglesia Evangélica Luterana en el Norte de Alemania

(Evangelisch-Lutherische Kirche in Norddeutschland)
On Pentecost 2012, the North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mecklenburg and the Pomeranian Evangelical Church merged to form the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany.

The North Elbian and the Mecklenburg church had been members of the WCC since 1950, and all three were members of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), which is a communion of Lutheran, Reformed, and United territorial or regional churches in Germany.

In the coming years the new Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany will be led by a council of bishops. It will be represented in the WCC through the EKD.
