If one member is honoured, all members rejoice with it!

(1 Cor 12.26)

Dear Rev. Dr Festus A. Asana and Rev. William Abwenzoh,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! On behalf of the World Council Churches (WCC) and on behalf of your many friends throughout the ecumenical movement, please accept our most sincere congratulations on the occasion of your induction as Moderator and Synod Clerk, respectively, of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon.

Your lives and ministries have been an inspiring witness to the unity of the church. We have every confidence that as Moderator and as Synod Clerk of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon you will serve your church faithfully for the Glory of God; and that you will share generously your gifts of wisdom, discernment and leadership within the Reformed family of churches, the fellowship of WCC member churches and the wider ecumenical movement.

We in the World Council of Churches are keenly aware of the outstanding service that you Rev. Dr Asana, render to the one church of Jesus Christ through your personal faith and dedication to the cause of Christian unity, mission, justice and peace. We are especially grateful for the excellence you demonstrate in your continuing role as a member of the WCC central committee. Your wisdom and experience contribute richly to our life together. You truly deserve this recognition, along with the heartfelt thanks of the ecumenical movement for your leadership through the years.

Your respective elections as Moderator and as Stated Clerk of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon are a clear recognition of your good leadership in ministry. We trust that people of Cameroon, the members of the Presbyterian Church and your many friends around the world will have “joy from you in the Lord”, that you will “refresh our hearts in the Lord” and that you will do even more than we all expect from you (Philemon 1.20-21).

We fervently pray that your ministries in the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon will be abundantly blessed by God almighty, Father of our common Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

In love and fellowship,

Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit
