Questions and answers about the WCC and the Coronavirus

Q1 Where does WCC get information about the Corona crisis’ development?

The WCC relies on the World Health Organization as the global authority on health issues. The WCC also encourages everybody to stay informed and follow national health authorities’ recommendations about the new Coronavirus.

Q2 Can WCC provide any recommendations?

It is not the role of the WCC to instruct or recommend to churches what concrete measures they should take in their congregations or in liturgy.

The WCC will accompany churches around the world in this challenging time, and will seek to offer hope and bring light to how churches are, and can be, contributing to constructive responses to the Coronavirus and its consequences for people’s lives, physically as well as spiritually.
