Membership of Central and Executive Committee

Central Committee

At its meetings of 18-21 February and 24-25 August 2003, the Executive Committee was informed of several resignations from the Central Committee. It therefore recommends that the Central Committee confirm the following replacements:

- Rev. Iteffa Gobena of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus to replace Rev. Yadessa Daba.
- Rev. Cibele Kuss of the Evangelical Church of Lutheran Confession in Brazil to replace Diakonin Valmi Ione Becker.
- Rt. Rev. C. Christopher Epting of the Episcopal Church USA to replace Dr Pamela Chinnis.
- Rt. Rev. Tom Butler, Bishop of Southwark, of the Church of England to replace Rt. Rev. Barry Rogerson.
- Most Rev. Dr R. O. Ositelu of the Church of the Lord Aladura to replace Ms Abigail Ogunsanya.
- Rev. Dr Nicolae Moşoiu of the Romanian Orthodox Church to replace Rev. Prof. Aurel Jivi.
- Bishop Dr Martin Hein of the Evangelical Church in Germany to replace Landesbischöfin Dr Margot Käßmann.
- Dr Priscilla Joseph of the Episcopal Church of the Sudan to replace Ms Jenny Siama Paul.
- Bishop Cephas Z. Mukandi of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe to replace Rev. Farai Chirisa.

In addition, Archbishop Abune Kerlos of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has resigned. His replacement is still being negotiated.

Executive Committee

At the time of their resignation from Central Committee, Ms Abigail Ogunsanya and Rev. Yadessa Daba also resigned from the Executive Committee. The Central Committee is asked to approve their replacement by Ms Idah Njobvu of the Reformed Church in Zambia and Rev. Iteffa Gobena respectively.

Faith and Order Standing and Plenary Commissions

At its meeting in July 2003, the Faith and Order Standing Commission approved the following nominations to be submitted for election by the Central Committee:

- Bishop Hilarion of Vienna to take the place of Archbishop Feofan (Russian Orthodox Church) on the Standing Commission, and Mr Sergei Hovorun to take the place of Bishop Hilarion on the Plenary Commission.
- Dr Dimitra Koukoura (Ecumenical Patriarchate) to replace Ms Katarina Karkala-Zorbas on the Plenary Commission.
- Rev. Dr Stefan Cosoroabe (Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Romania) to take the place of Mrs Dorothea Binder on the Plenary Commission.

Finance Committee

The Executive Committee recommends to nominate Bishop Dr Rolf Koppe as a member of the Finance Committee.
