Whilst women around the world are slowly getting better represented in top level leadership positions in political and social spheres, many barriers still remain, such as discrimination, gender stereotyping, balancing work/family commitments and prejudice. These barriers help maintain a gender gap and prevent women from fulfilling their potential and contributing to national and global social, political and economic development goals.

As recognition of these issues continues to push it higher up on the global development agenda, the World Council of Churches in collaboration with the International Alliance of Women now invite all to a lecture by Norwegian politician and researcher Torild Skard, to be held at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva on 3 October 2016.

The lecture is open to the public, and will be followed by a panel discussion.
