What: Press Conference in English

Observing the 70th anniversary of the founding of the World Council of Churches (WCC) brings special focus and heightened attention to this year’s Central Committee meeting, 15-21 June in Geneva.

Among the Central Committee’s chief tasks are a midterm review of the council’s programmes, decisions about the venue and theme of the next WCC assembly in 2021, monitoring and evaluating the ongoing foundational work of the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace, updates on the emerging Green Village real-estate development, and addressing a variety of public issues.

The 70th anniversary of the World Council of Churches in 2018 is an opportunity to mark the achievements of the past 70 years in working for Christian unity and action, and to look to the challenges ahead as a fellowship of churches responding to God’s call for unity, mission, justice and peace. This event is part of a series of anniversary celebrations taking place in various locations throughout the year.
