This year the World Water Day (22 March) falls on the Saturday before Easter (according to the calendar followed by Western churches). It also culminates the "Seven Weeks for Water" campaign by the Ecumenical Water Network.

Congregations that still want to join the campaign can do so for instance with a foot washing ceremony on Maundy Thursday: The Ecumenical Water Network invites Christians to imitate Christ's gesture of cleansing and cooling his disciples' feet as a way to express solidarity with those "whose right to be human is being undermined by their daily struggle for access to clean water."

Other suggestions during the "Seven Weeks for Water" included poems and psalms, building instructions for a "water cube" exhibit as well as a pledge to renounce bottled water during conferences. Additional bible studies and campaign ideas will still be posted to the network's website for two more weeks.
