Launched by Arigatou International and supported by the World Council of Churches (WCC), the "Faith in Action for Children" campaign aims at strengthening efforts to keep children safe during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Joint efforts for the protection of children have never been as important as now. Without urgent action, this health crisis risks becoming a child rights crisis,” said WCC acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca. "We assure the collaboration in the campaign engaging religious leaders and communities in joint global and local efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, and preventing violence against children - which is so much exacerbated by the pandemic, closure of schools and confinement."

The Faith in Action for Children campaign is built on the vital role that faith plays in emergencies to strengthen the resilience of families and children, and the crucial contributions of religious leaders to positively influence the behaviour of their millions of followers.

Several virtual activities are planned to strengthen connections among religious leaders, religious communities and child protection organizations around the world to work together to influence behavioural change to help end all violence against all children.

The global campaign has also developed practical resources to support religious leaders and communities, parents, caregivers, teachers and children. The WCC will support the campaign with its own materials and add links to the additional resources proposed by "Faith in Action for Children."
