The World Council of Churches (WCC) hosted a delegation from the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church on 12-13 November.

The delegation included Abune Kerlos Tesfasilassie Tekle, senior archbishop of the diocese of Adikeyih; Abune Lukas Gebrehiwet Netsere, acting patriarch and general secretary of the Holy Synod; Melketsadk Abrha Sium, abbot of All Monasteries in Eritrea; Aba Habteweld Habtemariam Gebrmadhn, head of the European branch of the church based in Milan Italy; and Girmay Zeray Asmerom, deputy head of the Church Administration.

The delegation discussed, with WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, how to strengthen the church’s involvement with the wider ecumenical movement. WCC staff also offered an overview of WCC programmes and activities. The delegation also visited the Bossey Ecumenical Institute.
