Prof. Musa W Dube was awarded an honorary doctorate by Stellenbosch University in South Africa on 20 March.

Dube is a former theology consultant for the World Council of Churches Ecumenical HIV and AIDS Initiatives and Advocacy (WCC-EHAIA), for which she worked in the years of 2002-2004.

“Prof. Dube has been instrumental in the mainstreaming of HIV theological curricula, and her writings are evident of her enormous contributions to the on-going ecumenical journey with HIV,” said Rev. Dr Nyambura Njoroge, coordinator of WCC-EHAIA.

“As an African post-colonial feminist theologian, Prof. Dube has pioneered a new way of reading the Bible in pursuit of justice for all, including women, nations still affected by the consequences of colonization, as well as people living with HIV and AIDS,” read the university’s motivation during the ceremony.”
