The World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit has expressed his strong appreciation of the recent election of Rev. Dr Samuel W. Meschak as president of the World Association for Christian Communication (WACC).
Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit sent a letter to Rev. Dr Samuel W. Meschak on 3 June congratulating him after the announcement of his appointment. “You bring a rich and impressive set of experiences and commitments to this work, not only in your prior responsibilities with WACC but in your academic and pastoral presence as well”, said Tveit in the letter.
Tveit also stressed the close alignment of the programmatic commitments of the WCC and WACC, and offered the WCC’s support in their work. “The need has never been greater for a clear and conscientious commitment to open communication as the indispensable for social justice. Let us walk together on that journey of faith!”, Tveit said.
