WCC congratulates new head of Global Christian Forum

22 February 2018

World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit extended his congratulations to Dr Casely Essamuah, who has been selected as next secretary of the Global Christian Forum (GCF).

Essamuah will take up the position on 1 July, following the retirement of Rev. Dr Larry Miller who has led the GCF for the last six years.

Tveit wished Essamuah success in his new endeavors, and offered prayers for a positive and transformative leadership experience.

“We sincerely appreciate the work performed by the Global Christian Forum in providing space in which Christians from a wide variety of churches and traditions meet together to foster mutual respect and address common challenges,” Tveit said.

Originally ordained in the Methodist Church, Ghana, Essamuah has worked for the last 13 years as global missions and local outreach pastor of the Bay Area Community Church, Annapolis, Maryland (USA).
