Take a look at a 5-minute video about last February's 9th Assembly in Brazil, now featured on the WCC website - it's ready for downloading!
Whether or not you were in Porto Alegre, you'll enjoy watching these sight-and-sound bites, chosen from amongst the vast kaleidoscope of events, exchanges, work, play, and worship that together became the 9th Assembly:
- "May our prayers never be empty words," prays Wendy Evans, a young woman delegate from Canada.
- The archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, reflects on Christian identity and religious plurality.
- Aram I, then moderator of the WCC, shares his vision of ecumenism in the 21st century.
- General secretary Samuel Kobia pays tribute to the passion and vitality of young people.
- Brazilian pastor Nancy Cardoso, holds high a jar of seeds, "our daily bread", as she describes the effects of economic globalization.
- And Desmond Tutu assures his audience that "We can make it only together!"
Getting "into the mood", WCC central committee delegates watched the video just ahead of a 31 August working session devoted to evaluating the Assembly.
