In a joint message, the heads of four North American churches - Episcopal, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Anglican Church of Canada, and Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada - commended the richness of the Arusha Call to Discipleship and invited their members to embrace the call.

The Arusha Call to Discipleship was publicly released earlier this month as a text to guide and inspire the World Council of Churches fellowship and all people of good will as they pursue a definition of mission in today’s challenging world.

The heads of four North American churches reflected that the call comes to them at a decisive moment. “We welcome this witness from Christians around the world,” the message reads. “It insists that all mission and evangelism must be integrated and holistic, not endorsing any false dichotomy between a spiritual salvation and the transformation of social, economic, racial, environmental, and gender injustices.”
