Visits by leaders of member churches and other significant ecumenical partners, groups from congregations and theological schools - including clergy, theologians and lay persons - offer them a unique opportunity to learn about the diverse range of issues being addressed by the WCC.
Every year, the WCC welcomes over a thousand visitors to the Ecumenical Centre, Geneva. The WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit received this week a delegation from the Bread for the World from Germany. The delegation included Prof. Dr Claudia Warning, executive director; Danuta Sacher, head of Latin America and Caribbean Department; Reinhard Palm, head of Africa Department; Oliver Märtin, head of Europe and Worldwide Department and Tobias Traut, ecumenical officer.
Last week the Bishops’ Conference of Finland, under the leadership of the Archbishop Dr Kari Mäkinen from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, invested two days to get an update on the work of the ecumenical organizations, such as the WCC and the LWF in the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva and at the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey.

The Ecumenical Centre is also home to several other church and ecumenical organizations including the: Lutheran World Federation (LWF), ACT Alliance and Globethics. Likewise, it is within walking distance of numerous United Nations agencies including the International Labour Organization, the International Federation of the Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies, World Health Organization, and others.
