Organizers of the 37th German Protestant Kirchentag, scheduled for 19-23 June in Dortmund, are inviting churches to nominate international “guests of honour” for the lay-led festival of faith and civic responsibility.

Guests of honor, nominated by church bodies, will be among more than 100,000 people expected to attend the Kirchentag’s many events, which include spiritual content, political and social debate, and cultural programmes.

The theme for the 2019 Kirchentag is “What confidence is this,” a phrase derived from 2 Kings 18:19. Participants will explore the following questions: How strongly does trust sustain us in periods of profound anxiety about the future or in social crisis? What happens when trust is put to the test? How do we live trustingly together – today and in the future?

Registration is open for individuals and groups.
