Young people from across the world have gathered virtually to pray for peace on the Korean Peninsula, and are inviting people to join them by viewing a video highlighting their prayers.

Through an initiative by the World Council of Churches (WCC) ECHOS Youth Commission, a recording of prayers is now available for viewing by WCC member churches and all people of goodwill.

Some of the young people featured in the video were also part of a WCC Pilgrim Team that met in Korea in 2019. After their visit, they remained inspired to engage in the ecumenical movement for peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula.

As 2020 marks the 70th anniversary of the start of the Korean War, the WCC created a global prayer campaign for peace on the Korean Peninsula, “We Pray, Peace Now, End the War.”

The young pilgrims have produced this video as a reflection of their unique participation in the global prayer campaign. The video may be used as a prayer resource for World Communion Sunday, celebrated this year on 4 October, in which Christians in every culture break bread and remember Christ’s ministry of reconciliation.

As Dianet Valdes, from Cuba, prays, "God of abundant life, You became human to show us the path of love with justice to our neighbors. Continue to reveal yourself in our voices of hope that cry out for a reconciled world.”
