This event aims to deepen understanding of what it means to be both faith- and rights-based by taking a look at prophetic diakonia and advocacy as integral parts of the work of the WCC and ACT Alliance.

Participants will hear from churches and ACT members engaged in ecumenical diakonia in alignment with the agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals. They will then explore how to apply such best practices in their own contexts and programs.

The event forms a bridge between the ACT Alliance Assembly and the WCC Executive Committee meeting.

The 70th anniversary of the WCC in 2018 is an opportunity to mark the achievements of the past 70 years in working for Christian unity and action, and to look to the challenges ahead as a fellowship of churches responding to God’s call for unity, mission, justice and peace. This event is part of a series of anniversary celebrations taking place in various locations throughout the year.
