Peacebuilding and Advocacy for Just Peace

What is the role of churches and other ecumenical actors in building just and sustainable peace, and what should be their areas of engagement? These questions will be addressed at the Ecumenical Peacebuilding Consultation and Workshop on Advocacy for Just Peace, in order to build a common understanding for the WCC Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace.

This consultation aims to create programme synergies and develop collaboration methods, sharing best practices and lessons learned in peacebuilding, conflict prevention and advocacy for peace.

The workshop shall focus on practical strategies and tools required to support coordinated international advocacy for a more peaceful world by ecumenical organizations, comprising of the WCC and its member churches, ACT Alliance members, National Councils of Churches and other ecumenical actors.

One expected outcome is a framework for a Global Ecumenical Network for Advocacy for Just Peace.

The WCC consultation and workshop is hosted by the Church of Sweden, Uniting Church in Sweden and Christian Council of Sweden. It will bring together more than 80 ecumenical advocacy experts, church leaders, civil society and United Nations partners.
