Executive Committee meeting

The 25-person Executive Committee is the WCC governing body, with members from churches in every region, moderated by Dr Agnes Abuom. It meets twice a year to monitor ongoing work, supervise the budget and deal with policy matters referred to it by the Central Committee.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

The theme for the week of prayer in 2019, "Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue ..." is inspired by Deuteronomy 16:18-20. The resources for the week have been prepared by members of different churches in Indonesia.

Nathan Söderblom seminar

As an early and eager pioneer in the ecumenical movement, Sweden's archbishop Nathan Söderblom (1866 -1931) earned worldwide recognition. His dedication to ecumenical work for peace earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1930. On 3 June, the WCC invites all interested to a half-day seminar at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva.

Engaging for Just and Participatory Societies – Belongingness in Judaism, Christianity and Islam

The Ecumenical Institute at Château de Bossey invites applications for the Certificate in Advanced Studies – Interreligious Studies, 2019. Intended for an international audience of young people interested and engaged in interreligious dialogue, the Ecumenical Institute's Certificate of Advanced Studies in Interreligious Studies includes lectures, courses, workshops and study visits to places of interreligious interest, and is accredited by the University of Geneva under the Swiss Higher Education Programme for Continuing Education.

13th Annual Conference of the European Network of Buddhist-Christian Studies

The World Council of Churches (WCC) will partner in organising the 13th annual conference of the European Network of Buddhist-Christian Studies (ENBCS) to commemorate the birth centenary of Lynn A De Silva, a pioneering figure in Christian-Buddhist dialogue.

Ecumenical School on Governance, Economics and Management (GEM) for an Economy of Life

In order to strengthen the voice of the churches with regards to global economics, a group of 20 current and future leaders representing the churches will have the opportunity to attend the Ecumenical School on Governance, Economics and Management (GEM) for an Economy of Life in Jakarta, Indonesia from 19-30 August 2019.

Continuing formation on Youth and Racism Awareness in Asia

This event plans to engage 30 indigenous young people from around the world and 20 Asian young people to go deeper on the topic of racism and exchange experiences. Key reasons for gathering in Japan is to show concrete solidarity with Indigenous Communities in Japan, share stories and hear the issues that they are struggling with.

World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel

During this week which includes the International Day of Prayer for Peace on 21 September, church organizations, congregations, and people of faith are encouraged to bear a common witness by participating in worship services, educational events, and acts of support in favour of peace and justice for Israelis and Palestinians.

Youth in Asia Training for Religious Amity

Central Committee meeting

The Central Committee serves as the chief governing body of the WCC until the next assembly, meeting every 2 years. It is responsible for carrying out the policies adopted by the Assembly, reviewing and supervising WCC programmes and the budget of the Council.
