Le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) a coorganisé deux événements parallèles pour traiter des impacts non économiques des changements climatiques. Ces discussions ont porté sur les conséquences des changements climatiques pour les communautés vulnérables dans le monde, notamment les populations autochtones, en raison de leurs effets sur le patrimoine culturel, les pratiques spirituelles et la résilience communautaire.

Los debates se centraron en cómo el cambio climático afecta a las comunidades vulnerables de todo el mundo, en particular los pueblos indígenas, alterando el patrimonio cultural, las prácticas espirituales y la resiliencia comunitaria.

Der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) hat im Rahmen der COP29 zusammen mit Partnern zwei Nebenveranstaltungen zu den nicht-monetären Folgen des Klimawandels organisiert. Die Diskussionen drehten sich um die Frage, inwiefern sich der Klimawandel auf vulnerable Gemeinwesen – insbesondere indigene Völker – in aller Welt auswirkt, weil er das kulturelle Erbe, spirituelle Praktiken und die Resilienz der Menschen gefährdet und belastet.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) co-hosted two side events addressing the non-economic impacts of climate change. These discussions focused on how climate change affects vulnerable communities worldwide, particularly Indigenous peoples, by disrupting cultural heritage, spiritual practices, and community resilience.

World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, on behalf of the global fellowship, expressed solidarity with the people of Kanaky New Caledonia as they cope with tension and blockades that have brought shortages of food, healthcare, and essential services.

A delegation from the Front de libération nationale kanak et socialiste visited the World Council of Churches (WCC), sharing concerns about human rights and self-determination for the people in Kanaky New Caledonia. 

At an event called “Ecumenical Continuing Formation: Youth, Transformative Masculinity 

and Femininity,” young people from the Pacific gathered from 15-19 November, both online and in-person, to express their honest feelings about the issues most important to them.

 

Pastor Allen Nafuki, assembly clerk of the Presbyterian Church in Vanuatu, passed away on 13 June. He had planned to be his church’s only delegate to the World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe in 2022.

Young people in the Pacific region shared their unique ecological insights, along with their passion for change, at the World Council of Churches (WCC) Eco-School on Water, Food and Climate Justice in February.

The fourth edition of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Eco-School on Water, Food and Climate Justice will be held 18-24 January 2021 in the Pacific region in five countries (Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu, Tuvalu & Solomon Islands).
