The Central Committee of the World Council of Churches will meet 18 – 24 March at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva. It will be the fourth meeting of this Central Committee since it was elected at the WCC 10th Assembly in Busan, Republic of Korea, in 2013.

The Central Committee meets every two years and serves as the chief governing body of the WCC between assemblies. It is responsible for implementing the policies adopted by the assembly, reviewing and supervising WCC programmes and the budget of the council. The current Central Committee’s mandate terminates at the 11th WCC Assembly, held in Karlsruhe, Germany, in 2021.

Live streamed media briefings will be held at the Ecumenical Centre everyday throughout the Central Committee meeting, except on Sunday, 22 March.

Media accreditation is mandatory. Media are invited to apply for accreditation by filling out and returning an accreditation form.

More information about the Central Committee and other governing bodies of WCC can be found at the WCC Press Centre: https://www.oikoumene.org/en/press-centre
