The World Council of Churches (WCC) was honoured as a top non-governmental organization for its work during 2021, receiving a third-place Geneva Engage Award on 1 February for effective and inspiring social media outreach and engagement.

Desmond Mpilo Tutu was a unique character. His contagious sense of humour and laughter has helped to resolve many critical situations in South Africa’s political and church life. With the welcoming sound of South African drums, the 58th meeting of the World Council of Churches Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA) began this week in Johannesburg, reviewing the work of the commission between two WCC assemblies and discussing the churches’ engagement in critical issues of the world today.

The recently released report “UNICEF-WCC Partnership – 2015 - 2021: Examples and Highlights of the Churches’ Commitments to Children (CC2C)” shows how collaboration between the Wold Council of Churches (WCC) and UNICEF leverages churches’ efforts to improve children’s lives.
