Food price crisis: What does it mean? What can we do about it?
The latest issue of the "Contact" magazine, jointly produced by the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the UN Standing Committee on Nutrition (SCN), addresses the current food price crises from various angles. A wide range of authors provide a broad perspective on the causes of the crisis and ideas for advocacy and action to counter it.
“The need for food and nutrition policies that are based on human rights values has never been greater. The faith communities can obviously play a strong role in helping realize these changes. It is ethically imperative that civil society, governments and faith based organizations join hands in solidarity with communities to help find solutions at all levels”, writes Dr. Roger Shrimpton, Secretary to the United Nations System Standing Committee on Nutrition, in the editorial of this current edition.
This issue of the Contact magazine is an important contribution to reflexion among the WCC constituency and related networks.
